Have you ever wondered who are direct diamond importers, does it make sense to buy diamonds from such vendors, and what are the advantages? Let’s go into the details and see what is behind this term.
Who Are Direct Diamond Importers?
Direct diamond importers are vendors who buy diamonds directly from mining companies or producers of lab-grown diamonds.
For example, Anantaa Diamonds, India’s first exclusive lab-grown diamond jewellery store, imports diamonds directly from manufacturing factories. Similarly, any vendor who buys stones from DeBeers, the dominating diamond mining company, and imports them into any country will be considered a direct diamond importer.
Direct importers usually have the advantage of being able to choose the best-quality rough diamonds. In most cases, such vendors cut and polish the diamonds they buy; however, some direct importers can buy diamonds that have already been cut and polished if the miner or producer offers such an option.
Reasons to Buy from Direct Diamond Importers

Buying diamonds from direct importers has many advantages as these companies can offer competitive terms compared with regular jewellery stores and individual jewellers.
Competitive Prices
Since diamond importers buy stones directly from original suppliers, they can offer lower prices than most jewellery stores. The stores that do not buy directly from mines and manufacturers have to go through one or more middlemen and can never match the price of a direct importer.
Larger Assortment
Direct diamond importers always have a larger assortment than other vendors do. Since they supply other smaller shops with stones, they usually have cut, colour and clarity grades along with sizes that you may not find at regular jewellery stores. So if you are looking for a diamond that is rare enough to find at local jewellers, you will most likely have luck with a direct diamond importer.
Excellent Customer Service
Most direct importers claim that they can offer better customer service compared to local jewellery stores. In a sense, that is true. While showrooms in stores are often crowded, and you can get less attention from a salesperson, direct importers always provide you with individual customer service. But let’s not forget that there are many regular stores where you will be treated just as well, so the question is which vendor you are most comfortable with.
